Our History
We’re the Jordan family and we began Rambling Pines Day Camp in 1976
Dr. Sidney Jordan, a professor of education at Trenton State College, and his wife, Roslyn, ran Jordan Day School since 1972. They were searching for a new site for a camp and school, and knew they had found the perfect spot when they came upon 15 acres with a house, pond and babbling brook nestled in the Sourland Mountains.
With sons Edward (then age 14) and Robert (then age 13) they set to work transforming the site into Rambling Pines. In the short months before the summer of 1976, they installed 4 classrooms, two pools, a tennis court, and a sports field, the beginning of the facility and program you see today.

That summer, the camp had fewer than 25 campers and a dozen staff, but things grew quickly from there. They soon acquired the neighboring former Camp Harmony in 1977 increasing the campgrounds to a sprawling 225 acres. In 1979, construction on the gymnasium and classrooms began, vastly increasing indoor space.
Other changes followed over the years, including additional sports courts, sports fields, and pools. More campers and staff joined. With new families joining us and old friends returning, we’re looking forward to many more years and many more chapters in Rambling Pines history.
